During the Second Empire of Napoleon III, Haussmann had to renovate Paris. He decided to build new sewers, fountains and aqueducts. He also made a new street plan but the most famous and recognizable feature of Haussmann's renovation of Paris are the Haussmann buildings. The facades were strictly regulated. They had the same height, color, material and general design because they had to be harmonious together.
